Philadelphia, PA – In a match that took nearly four hours to complete, the La Salle men’s tennis team looked to win their fifth match of the fall season, but the Mount of Mount Saint Mary’s dominated the early part of singles competition and went on to win on the road, 5-2.

It was a competitive match that had line judges on the court all day long. Senior Jon Maula, who had both teams watching from the side, battled Mount Saint Mary’s junior Thad Mostowtt in a super-tiebreaker, but fell in the end. On the season, Maula leads all Explorers with seven singles victories.

“Even though some of our guys were battling injuries and the flu, I think we showed a lot of heart today,” said La Salle head coach Ed Colfer.

The Explorers (4-2) compete in their last home match of the fall season on Saturday, October 11 when they host Delaware State at noon.
