KINGSTON, RI- The La Salle University Men's Track & Field team took third overall at the 2008 Atlantic 10 Championships on Saturday at the University of Rhode Island. The Explorers were led by six first-place finishes including senior Sean Quigley (Braintree, MA) taking the 5000m title in 13:52.66, and anchoring the winning distance medley relay team that finished in 10:12.42. Charlotte took the overall team title.
Quigley was named the A-10 Championship 'Performer of the Meet'. His 5000m time was an A-10 and Mackal Field House record, along with a NCAA Championship provisional qualifying time.
The other members of the winning DMR team included juniors Korey Edwards (Morris Plains, NJ) and Stephen O'Donnell , and senior Joe Fedorowicz (Abington, PA). Edwards also notched a second-place finish in the 800m (1:55.72), while Fedorowicz grabbed the 1000m title (2:28.24).
Joe Dare (Souderton, PA) raced to first in the 3000m event (8:28.37), while junior Steven Rendall (Deptford, NJ) won the 55m Hurdles in 7.56.
The 4x400 relay team took the title in 3:20.35, members included: senior James Tchabo (Herndon, VA), Rendall, junior Jared Davis (Englewood, NJ) and sophomore Andrew Maxwell (Lemoyne, PA).
Senior David Alfano (West Orange, NJ) ran to second in the mile (4:15.65) and Adam Woodford (Downingtown, PA) took second in the triple jump (14.50m). Ed Baynes (Pine Beach, NJ) also had a strong showing-taking fifth overall in the 5000m (14:48.37).
