New York, NY- The La Salle Explorers Track teams finished out the second day of the New Balance Collegiate Invitational in New York with Sean Quigley's (Braintree, MA) personal-best performance in the mile of 4:01.35 to place third in the championship heat. His time is provisional qualifier for the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships. The winner of the mile at the Collegiate Invitational is an NCAA Champion in the mile, running the event in under four minutes.
Senior Carolyn Lipovsky (Edison, NJ) finished third in the mile in the college section (4:58.59). Junior David Alfano (West Orange, NJ) placed 2nd in his heat and 5th overall in the college section in of the mile (4:14.53).
In other action the men's 4x800 team placed 2nd in their heat (7.38.99)- paced by a pair of 1:52 splits from sophomore Trevon Rainford (Philadelphia, PA) and junior Korey Edwards (Morris Plains, NJ), completing the team were seniors Joe Fedorowicz (Abington, PA) and Bill Ceriello (Poughkeepsie, NY).
The men's 4x400 team finished 2nd in the Pennsylvania heat with a season best of 3.18.07, team members included junior Jared Davis (Englewood, NJ), senior James Tchabo (Herndon, VA), junior Steve Rendall (Deptford, NJ), sophomore Andrew Maxwell (Lemoyne, PA)- who ran a great anchor leg.
The Explorers head to the Atlantic 10 Championships next weekend, on February 16th at the University of Rhode Island.
