PHILADELPHIA, PA  - La Salle University men's basketball forward Yves Mekongo Mbala (Elizabeth, NJ/St. Patrick) has been named to the AAA Scholar-Athlete Team by the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA).
 

Mekongo Mbala, a native of Cameroon, compiled a grade point average of 3.82 as an Integrated Science, Business and Technology (ISBT) major, while starting all 32 games for the Explorers.

 

The sophomore was the team's fourth-leading scorer with 8.3 points per game and second-leading rebounder with 6.0 boards per game and earned Atlantic 10 All-Academic team honors for the 2007-08 season.

 

He was one of 10 players recognized by NACDA and one of just two players from the Atlantic 10 Conference on the team.

 

NACDA serves as the professional association for those in the field of athletics administration, providing educational opportunities and serves as a vehicle for networking and the exchange of information to others in the profession.
