PITTSBURGH, PA - The La Salle women's lacrosse team dropped an 18-6 decision to Duquesne on Friday afternoon. Stefany McKee, Brittany White and Kelly Heiss each had two goals, as the Explorers fell to 1-14 overall and 0-5 in the Atlantic 10.

The Dukes dominated the first half of play, rolling to an 11-1 lead at the break. La Salle fell behind by a 4-0 score before McKee put the Explorers on the board at the 18:29 mark with her first goal of the day. The lone first half goal was a season-low for La Salle.

After Duquesne extended its lead to 12-1 early in the second half, the Explorers began to show some signs of life.

Heiss found the back of the cage at the 24:23 mark and McKee followed that with her score off of an assist from Nicole McCurdy, cutting the deficit back to single digits. White notched back-to-back goals within a minute of each other, bringing the Explorers to within seven at 12-5.

Any hope of a comeback was squashed when the Dukes reeled off five-straight to take a 17-5 lead with 7:31 to play. Heiss added a late score on a free position shot to close out the scoring for the Explorers.

White and Dorothy Schalleur each had four ground balls. Schalleur added a team-high three caused turnovers in the defeat.

A-10 leading scorer Emily Bonczek was held without a goal for the first time since the season opener against Colgate.

Duquesne was led by Ashley Wood's four goals. Kathleen McNish notched three goals and five assists, and Shannon Hadaway finished with a hat trick, as the Dukes (7-8, 4-2 A-10) clinched a berth in the A-10 Championship.

The Explorers close out their season on Sunday at St. Bonaventure.
