PHILADELPHIA, PA- The month of April has showered senior runner Sean Quigley with awards, as he has been named Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC) 'Athlete of the Week' for the second time this month.
Quigley had also garnered A-10 'Performer of the Week' honors for the second time in April after qualifying for his second Olympic Trials event in the 5K (he already qualified for the 10K).
His time in the 5K (13:30.25) at the Mt. SAC Relays in California over the weekend was the top of any American finisher and beat his previous personal record by 19 seconds. He placed fifth overall.
The Boston native finished ahead of NCAA Cross Country Champion Josh McDougal and NCAA Indoor Track 5K Champion Shadrack Songkok en route to his speedy performance. The winner of the 5K event was Australian Collis Birmingham.
