LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ - The La Salle women's tennis team dropped a 4-3 decision at Rider on Saturday afternoon. The Explorers are still searching for their first win of the spring, as the Blue and Gold fell to 0-5.
The Explorers lost the doubles point, despite a convincing 8-1 win at No. 2 from Martha Kutteh and Katie Drapcho. Rachael Barnhart and Lauren Perry fell in a hard-fought 8-6 battle at No. 1.
In singles, Barnhart fell behind early at No. 1 but battled back for a 6-7 (5-7), 6-3, 6-1 win. Perry dropped a marathon at No. 2 but Kutteh came away victorious at the third position, taking the match by a 6-0, 6-1 score. Taylor Silverio put up a fight at No. 5 but ultimately fell, 6-4, 6-4. The Explorers were forced to forfeit at No. 6.
La Salle looks to bounce back when it hosts Drexel on Monday afternoon.
