NCAA East Regional Meet
Tallahassee, FL- The men's 5K turned into a Philadelphia showcase at the NCAA Track East Regionals held at Florida State University as Explorer senior Sean Quigley (Braintree, MA/ Archbishop Williams) raced to a second-place finish (13:30.25), behind Villanova's Bobby Curtis on Friday night. Quigley- a six-time All-American- has already qualified for both the 10K and 5K at the NCAA Championships and the Olympic Trials.
Graduate student Rachel Papin (Philadelphia, PA/ St.Hubert's) finished 18th (16:27.84), while senior Christa Plummer (Quakertown, PA/ Palisades) did not make the cut but took 34th in the 5K (16:34.18).
Senior Carolyn Lipovsky (Edison, NJ/ Bishop Ahr) finished seventh in her heat and 21st overall in the 1500m preliminaries (4:26.48).
Junior Korey Edwards (Morris Plains, NJ/ Parsippany) took 10th in his heat, 27th overall (3:47.03) in the 1500m preliminaries.
Junior Steven Rendall (Deptford, NJ/ Gloucester Catholic) paced to sixth in his 110m hurdle heat (14.25) and graduate student Billy Rhea (Rockville, MD/ Good Council) took eighth in his 800m heat (1:50.75).
The men's 4x400m relay team of Jared Davis, Billy Rhea, Andrew Maxwell and James Tchabo took fourth in their heat and finished 16th overall (3:13.32).
