Philadelphia, PA - Although they were outshot 23-2 and defended eight corners while taking only one, the La Salle University (2-5) field hockey team played visiting Lock Haven (5-2) even into the 58th minute before Blair Wynne broke loose in front of the cage and unleashed a laser to give the Lady Eagles a 2-1 win at Hank DeVincent Field on Wednesday afternoon.
The Lady Eagles hit the cage first when Amy Hordendorfer, who managed to place six of her seven shots on cage, took a free ball rolling at her, pivoted and fire a shot past keeper Emma Ruth from the top left of the circle at 20:15 in the first half
Colleen Lechner scored her third goal of the season to draw the Explorers even at 1-1 when she got an assist from Lindsay Fry in the action following the team's only corner. A shot came off Eagle keeper Erin Terreson's pads which allowed Fry to shuffle the ball to Lechner for the score.
Wynne then launched her game-winner after maneuvering into open space in front of the cage at the game's 57:55 mark.
La Salle's Whitney Madron collected two defensive saves in the loss.
The Explorers continue a five-game home stand Friday afternoon whent they host Bucknell at 4:00 PM at DeVincent Field.
