Explorers Fall to Fairleigh Dickinson, 3-1

Teaneck, NJ - The La Salle volleyball team looked strong after the first set, however, the Knights of Fairleigh Dickinson came back to win three straight sets as they went on to defeat the Explorers in Hackensack, NJ on Wednesday night, 3-1 (22-25, 25-22, 25-15, 25-20).

Despite the tough loss, senior Tammi Jones managed to register a match-high 27 digs. Fellow senior Christa Dominick led with a team-high 12 kills, which ultimately added to her .368 hitting percentage (12-5-19). Dominick also added three total blocks and a dig.

Senior Jackie Kushman was one of two Explorers to post a double-double on Wednesday night. Kushman's 11 kills and 12 digs marked the fourth straight match in which she achieved double figures in each respective category. Sophomore Carly Conlon recorded her third double-double in four games as she went on to tally 18 assists and 11 digs.

Freshman Kourtney Clark tied a match-high with 21 assists while adding eight digs.

For Fairleigh Dickinson, senior Lauren Boothby led all players in the match with 18 kills while adding 11 digs and four total blocks. Junior Ali Philbrick posted 10 kills and 12 digs including a match-high four service aces. The final Fairleigh Dickinson double-double was attributed to senior Karolina Kowalski for her 21 assists and 15 digs.

The Explorers (3-7) travel to Villanova University this weekend as they get set to play in the Villanova Tournament. The first action for La Salle takes place at 4:30 p.m. on Friday, September 19, as they take on the University of Penn.
