Explorers Drop Final Two Matches in Villanova Classic

Villanova, PA - The La Salle volleyball team traveled back to Jake Nevin Field House on Saturday to complete the Villanova Classic, but a 3-0 loss to the hosting Wildcats (25-19, 25-17, 25-15) and a 3-0 loss to Bucknell (25-16, 25-17, 25-20) left the Explorers winless for the weekend.

Senior Christa Dominick was named to the Villanova Classic All-Tournament Team after posting a .417 hitting percentage (6-1-12) against Bucknell and a .333 hitting percentage (4-1-9) against Villanova. Dominick combined for five total blocks in two matches on Saturday. In addition to this past weekend, Dominick was also named to the All-Tournament Team in the George Mason Tournament that took place in early September.

Against Bucknell, senior Tammi Jones tied a team-high with 10 digs along with fellow senior Jackie Kushman.

In Saturday's earlier match against the hosting Wildcats, Kushman was one of the key producers for the Explorers. She led with team-highs of seven kills and 12 digs, while adding one of the team's three service aces.

Sophomore Carly Conlon dished out 15 assists and freshman Kourtney Clark followed up with four assists herself along with four digs and a pair of service aces.

Villanova freshman Kim Maroon posted 19 digs, which marked a match-high, and junior Chelsea Graman and freshman Courtney Oertli combined for 41 of Villanova's 46 assists.

Atlantic 10 competition opens up for the Explorers (3-10) on Tuesday, September 23, as they get set to host the Temple Owls for a noon start time where it is Elementary School Day at Tom Gola Arena.
