Explorers Dominate St. Francis, 3-0

Fairfax, VA - After dropping the first two matches in the George Mason Tournament, the La Salle volleyball team closed out the weekend with an impressive win over St. Francis (PA) on Saturday, 3-0 (25-9, 25-23, 25-22). The Explorers leave Virginia with a 2-4 overall record on the season.

La Salle took control early with a 25-9 first set victory and then cruised on for the win, as they rounded out the George Mason Tournament with a 1-2 record.

Seniors Christa Dominick and Jackie Kushman combined for 14 of their team's 32 total kills on the evening. Dominick tallied a match-high three solo blocks while also contributing a team-high tying two assisted blocks. Kushman was one of four Explorers to garner two assisted blocks as well.

Sophomore Carly Conlon registered 27 of her team's 31 assists, junior Sarah Jancuska tallied a team-high 10 digs and senior Amy McKeon's .571 hitting percentage (5-1-7) marked the highest in the match.

As a result of La Salle's splendid performance, St. Francis was only able to manage a .069 hitting percentage as a team.

Earlier in the day, the Explorers fell to Rutgers University, 3-0 (25-19, 25-20, 25-12).

The Explorers (2-4) are back in action on Tuesday, September 9 when they travel to Jersey City, NJ to face St. Peter's at 7:00 p.m.
