BRONX, NY – The La Salle men’s tennis team won its fourth consecutive match when they defeated Atlantic 10 rival Fordham on the road Saturday, 4-3. The Explorers move to 7-2 on the season.
The match was split evenly between both teams after La Salle won the first three singles points followed by Fordham at Nos. 4, 5 and 6.
Led by senior Jon Maula and sophomore George Gennaoui, the Explorers pulled ahead for the victory at No. 1 doubles after a 7-1 tiebreaker decided the win.
“Jon [Maula] and George [Gennaoui] showed a lot of heart in doubles action today,” said Edward Colfer, Sr. “They never gave up and, as a result, forced a tiebreaker. That was the turning point.”
The Explorers (7-2) host Wagner on Monday, Oct. 12, at 3:00 p.m. ET.
