Box Score

PHILADELPHIA - With less than three minutes left in regulation, Traci DePasquale sent eight La Salle Women's Soccer seniors home from Senior Day with a 2-1 victory over the Saint Joseph's Hawks in Atlantic 10 Conference action Sunday afternoon at McCarthy Stadium.

With the victory, La Salle wins its 10th of the season, tying for the third most wins ever in a single season and marks the 39th win over the last four years, the best mark ever for a senior class.

The day seemed to start out great for the seniors as Melanie Gamble appeared to put the Explorers up 1-0, however the goal was disallowed.

Saint Joseph's (6-7-3, 3-4-1 A-10) responded with a goal minutes later, as Jen Pfeiffer took a cross from Lauren Sawyer and tallied her fourth of the season 21 minutes into the match.

La Salle answered back seven minutes later as Lauren Barker headed home a corner kick from DePasquale for her first goal of 2009.

The score remained knotted through the half and with less than three minutes to go, the score was still 1-1.

At the 87:48 mark, DePasquale took a cross from Morgan Golden and tallied her eighth goal of the season and her second game winner of the year, the sixth of her career.

With the three-point afternoon, DePasquale now has 27 points, which leads the conference and is tied for the seventh most in a single season at the school.

Her 85 career points is now second all-time for a women's player at La Salle and she becomes just the fifth player, men's or women's, to reach the point total.

In net for the Explorers, picking up her 20th career victory was Melissa Sanger, who stopped eight Hawk shots, including two in the 83rd minute to keep the game tied.

La Salle (10-5-2, 4-3-1 A-10) picked up the win and three more points to pull to within a tie for sixth place in the conference standings with three matches to play. The Explorers head to Fordham this Friday for their only game this week, with a 7 PM start.

Honored before the game were eight senior members of the team: manager Kailey Spadafora, Barker, Lauren Cittadino, Sara Copare, Gamble, Ally Kenney, Becky McGuigan and Carissa Philips.
