Explorers Get Swept By No. 24 Saint Louis, 3-0

ST. LOUIS – The La Salle volleyball team took on No. 24 Saint Louis on Friday, but despite hanging on in the first set, the Explorers would eventually go on to lose in straight sets, 3-0 (19-25, 16-25, 10-25). The Explorers move to 3-23, 0-8 on the season whereas the Billikens improve to 14-6, 7-1.

La Salle capitalized early on in the first set with a 4-2 lead due to consecutive attack errors on the part of Saint Louis. Trailing 20-15 later on in the set, the Explorers would go on to score four of the next five points which cut the deficit to two, 21-19. The Billikens then went on a 4-0 run to win the first set, 25-19.

Saint Louis junior Megan Boken was credited with the only double-double in the match with 12 kills and 11 digs. Senior Bridget Fonke attributed eight kills, seven digs and a match-high five service aces and freshman Andrea Bolt dished out a match-high 20 assists, along with three digs.

Senior Rachel Stemper and freshman Samantha Tulskie each totaled eight digs apiece and freshman Kelly Scanlon chipped in with six kills, one dig and an assist.

Sophomore Carly Conlon added 13 assists and three digs and sophomore Stephanie Milovic finished with five kills and three digs.

The Explorers (3-23, 0-8) will travel to Duquesne on Sunday, Oct. 25, for a 1:00 p.m. ET match.
