AMHERST, MA - Traci DePasquale scored a pair of goals and registered a game-winning assist, while Ally Kenney netted the game winner and added an assist as La Salle Women's Soccer picked up its first Atlantic 10 Conference victory of the year with a 3-1 win at Massachusetts, Friday afternoon.
After allowing the first tally of the game in the 19th minute, the Explorers responded four minutes later when DePasquale took a throw-in from Kenney and scored to knot the game at one apiece. It was Kenney's seventh assist of the year and 12th of her career, which ties her for 10th all-time at La Salle.
The score remained even at 1-1 through the half, but just two minutes into the second half, Kenney notched her fifth goal of 2009 off an assist from DePasquale, her eighth of the year. It was Kenney's second game winner of the season, while it was DePasquale's fourth game-winning assist.
In the 61st minute, DePasquale netted her second of the game, seventh of the season, and 27th of her career to put an insurance tally on the board. The ball was put home after a Melanie Gamble shot, giving her her ninth career assist.
The numbers put up so far by DePasquale for the season include: seven goals (two shy of the top 10 all-time for a single season at the school), eight assists (tied for seventh), and 22 points (tied for 10th). Her career numbers now stand at 27 goals (tied for third), 26 assists (second), and 80 points (third, three shy of second).
For both Kenney and DePasquale, Friday's match marked the 70th start for each of them, tied for 10th all-time at the school, while DePasquale's 75 games put her third all-time.
Massachusetts (3-7-2, 2-3-0 A-10) outshot the Explorers 17-12, but La Salle goalie Gabrielle Pakhtigian made eight saves to pick up her third win of the season in net.
La Salle (7-5-2, 1-3-1 A-10) will now turn its attention to Rhode Island, its opponent on Sunday, with kickoff slated for 1 PM.
