Box Score

PITTSBURGH, PA - With a chance to advance to the Atlantic 10 Championship with a victory, La Salle Women's Soccer is defeated by the Dukes 5-2, Sunday. The Explorers erased a two-goal deficit with goals from Traci DePasquale and Melanie Gamble, but Duquesne answered to take the match.

Duquesne (7-11-0, 4-7-0 A-10) took a two-goal lead just over 23 minutes into the contest as Morgan Herbert and Lauren Ott scored unassisted goals at the 11:37 and 23:09 mark of the match.

The Explorers were able to cut the deficit to one before the half as DePasquale scored on a header off assists from Gamble and Ally Kenney with 11 minutes left before the break.

Just four minutes after intermission, La Salle knotted the game at two as Gamble tallied her seventh of the season off an assist from Dani Allizzo.

The Dukes then suffered a pair of, what could have been, game-breaking plays as one player was issued a red card at the 52:35 mark. Down a player and 10 minutes later, the Explorers had a penalty kick which could have put them into the lead for the first time on the day.

Brittany Findley, who had seven saves on the day, stopped the shot and her team rebounded with another Herbert tally a minute later, which the Dukes ahead for good.

La Salle (10-8-2, 4-6-1 A-10) ends its season with the loss.
