PHILADELPHIA – The La Salle volleyball team looked to round out the 2009 season and Senior Night with a victory on Saturday against Duquesne, but the Dukes were too much as the Explorers fell in the end, 3-0 (19-25, 15-25, 22-25).
Seniors Sarah Jancuska and Rachel Stemper were recognized for their four years of hard work and dedication to the La Salle volleyball program in a pregame ceremony. Both seniors were honored with the traditional starting role in their final game as Explorers.
Stemper ended the evening with three kills, seven digs, two assists, a service ace and a solo block. Jancuska posted one kill on five attempts and added two digs and an assist on Saturday night.
Three Duquesne players contributed double-digit digs, led by junior Katie Goss with 16. Redshirt sophomore Nicole Wright followed up with 11 digs of her own, along with eight kills, and senior Jessica Artman finished with 10 kills.
For La Salle, sophomore Stephanie Milovic recorded a .357 attack percentage (7K-2E-14TA), sophomore Kourtney Clark totaled 13 assists and seven digs and freshman Samantha Tulskie led all Explorers with 15 digs.
