Box Score

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Ruben Guillandeaux (Brooklyn, NY/St. Patrick's) tied his career high with 22 points and La Salle never trailed in a 68-57 win over George Washington at the Charles E. Smith Center in Washington, D.C.

The Explorers (13-10, 4-5) have now won three straight in the all-time series over the Colonials for the first time and swept this year's season series.

The Colonials moved within three at 45-42 at the 8:08 mark of the second half, but the Explorers pushed the lead to nine less than two minutes later and were not threatened again.

Guillandeaux's 22 points matched a career high set against Manhattan on New Year's Eve. Kimmani Barrett (Paterson, NJ/Paterson Catholic) and Rodney Green also chipped in 14 apiece. Thirteen of Barrett's points were scored in the first half.

Damian Hollis led the Colonials with 20 points.

Barrett scored the first four points of the game on consecutive free throws. A foul and a technical was assessed on the Hollis at 18:59, causing Barrett's four free throw opportunity.

The Explorers pushed the lead to nine on two consecutive Guillandeaux treys to put the score at 18-9 at 12:16, but the Colonials chipped away to make it a two-point game (23-21) at 5:19. The Explorers responded with a 14-0 run sparked by free throws by Rodney Green (Philadelphia, PA/Prep Charter) and Jerrell Williams (Paterson, NJ/Northfield Mount Hermon).

The Colonials owned a 34-32 advantage on the boards, but the Explorers held a 16-11 turnover advantage. The Explorers hit 23 of 28 free throw attempts, including an 8-for-8 effort by Green.

The Explorers return to Philadelphia for a tilt against Saint Joseph's on Sat. 2/14 at the Palestra. Tip-off is slated for 2:00 PM.
