AMBLER, Pa. - Mary Pat Conville and Erica Vile both ripped singles in the fourth inning, but the Explorers were held off the board for the second time against Saint Joseph's in an 8-0 six-inning loss.

With the loss, the Explorers fall to 1-9 overall, 0-2 in the Atlantic 10. The Hawks improve to 11-10 overall, 2-0 in league play.

Like in their first meeting yesterday, neither team got on the scoreboard in the first three innings. Ali Shepherd led off the first with a single to left field, but was out on the next play due to a fielder's choice. Hawk pitcher Dani Gonzales then forced a pop foul ball and a strikeout to end the Explorers' chances in the first.

The Hawks opened the game up in the fourth with three runs, then added two more in the fifth and three in the sixth.

Mary Pat Conville ripped a single down the left field line in the fourth inning. Erica Vile added a single to right center on two outs, but was out at second when she attempted to advance on the throw from right center.

Gina Massaro suffered the loss on the mound for the Explorers. She went 5.2 innings, gave up seven hits while striking one out. Gonzales earned the win for the Hawks as she pitched all six innings, gave up four hits and struck out five.

The Explorers return to action on Sunday with a noon doubleheader against Temple. The location of Sunday's game will be announced later today.
