Alfred, NY - The La Salle lacrosse team played Game 2 of their current four-game road trip on Sunday, but a 9-3 St. Bonaventure lead at the midway point set the Bonnies up for the victory, 15-10. Junior Stefany McKee scored four goals for the Explorers on the afternoon.
McKee scored her first goal at the 25:23 mark of the first period, which cut La Salle's deficit to one, 2-1. That was the closest the Explorers would get before the Bonnies would go on to score four consecutive goals to give them a 6-1 lead. During that stretch, sophomore Christine Hanley and freshman Emily Kane scored two goals each. St. Bonaventure took a 9-3 lead heading into halftime.
Hanley scored a team-high four goals for the Bonnies and Kane followed up with three of her own in addition to an assist. Junior Molly Hastrich also totaled three goals and distributed two assists.
The Explorers scored four of the first six goals at the start of the second period, but they still trailed by four at that point, 11-7.
Sophomore Lauren Bushby and freshman Nora McGurkin each scored two goals and junior Jill Davis also scored a goal. McGurkin recorded a game-high five draw controls and also tied a team-high in ground balls with junior Elizabeth Iacullo, finishing with three.
St. Bonaventure had the advantage in both ground balls, 14-11, and total shots, 22-21.
The Explorers (4-7, 1-3) return to Philadelphia but travel to Saint Joseph's on Thursday for a 3:00 PM start time.
