Explorers Drop Final Two Matches in La Salle Invitational

PHILADELPHIA - After dropping their first two matches on Day One of the La Salle Invitational, the La Salle Volleyball Team looked to even their record on Saturday with back-to-back matches against Cleveland State and Canisius. The Explorers dropped the first contest to Cleveland State, 3-0 (11-25, 17-25, 16-25), and then rounded out the day and the tournament with a loss to Canisius, 3-0 (20-25, 23-25, 24-26).

After contributing two double-doubles on Friday and two strong performances on Saturday, senior Rachel Stemper was chosen to the La Salle Invitational All-Tournament Team. Her selection has now made her a two-time honoree in the annual La Salle Invitational.

Against Cleveland State, Stemper added seven kills and eight digs and freshman Samantha Tulskie chipped in with a team-high 16 digs along with four kills.

Tulskie continued her success into the Canisius match-up as she went on to finish the match with a team-high 18 digs. She was one kill short of achieving her third double-double in four games, ending with nine.

The Explorers trailed by two sets against Canisius, but ultimately evened things up in the third set with a Lauren Noga kill, 24-24. Two quick points from Canisius followed which secured the win for the Golden Griffins.

Freshman Lauren Noga added nine kills, three digs and a service ace and sophomore Stephanie Milovic totaled eight kills, four digs, two assists and two assisted blocks.

Junior Carly Conlon and freshman Kourtney Clark combined for 34 assists and senior Sarah Jancuska tallied nine digs.

For Canisius, sophomore Janelle Davis led all participants with 37 assists and junior Renee Lettow recorded 17 digs and five kills.

The Explorers (0-4) return to action on Tuesday, Sept. 1 when they host Saint Peter's at 7 PM.
