Sepe Nets Goal in 2-1 Season Opening Loss to Bucknell

PHILADELPHIA - Ryan Sepe netted a goal just six and a half minutes into the 2009 season, but La Salle (0-1) gave up two unanswered goals to Bucknell (1-0) in the season opener for both teams.

Sepe's goal was a seven-yarder on a feed-in by freshman Glenroy Chapman from the right corner.

The Bison answered in the 15th minute when Conor O'Brien scored the first of his two goals. O'Brien tackled the ball away and took a 25-yard shot that found the back of the net.

The Explorers and Bison played at a 1-1 tie for about 45 minutes of play until O'Brien scored the game-winner at the 72:15 mark on a pass from Ryan Sappington.

The two teams were evenly matched offensively, with 13 shots taken by each team. Ten of the Explorers' shots came in the first half. The Explorers held a 5-2 advantage in corner kicks.

Kyle Quigley manned the goal for the Explorers and registered six saves. Bison Tommy Caso made four saves in goal.

The Explorers will be back in action on Sunday, Sept. 6, when they host Niagara in the home opener at 1:00 PM.
