Men's Soccer Runs to 4-0 Win at Robert Morris

Sept. 11, 2009

Box Score

PHILADELPHIA - Sophomore transfer Nick Dundon scored two goals, while Tom Kalpokas and Ryan Sepe added one apiece as the La Salle men's soccer team ran to a 4-0 win at Robert Morris on Friday afternoon. The Explorers evened their record to 1-1-1 with the win, while the Colonials dropped to 0-4.

The last time the Explorers scored four goals in a game was on Sept. 22, 2007, in a 4-1 win over Saint Joseph's. They scored three last year on then-No. 20 Charlotte.

Kalpokas opened the scoring just 4:20 into play. Sepe headed the ball into the box and Kalpokas chipped it in for his first goal of the season.

Dundon put the Explorers up 2-0 at the 29:44 mark. Mike Pio fed the ball to Dundon who took a shot from 30 yards out into the far corner of the net. Dundon got one more score in before the end of the first half on a penalty kick. For the second straight game, freshman Glenroy Chapman was taken down in the box and the team was awarded a penalty kick. Dundon took the kick and sank it into the net to put the Blue and Gold up 3-0 at the half.

Sepe added the final score just over five minutes into the second half. Rookie Jeff Pio took a shot that was deflected and Sepe scored off of the rebound for his second goal of the season.

Kyle Quigley earned the save in goal and stopped five shots. The Colonials' Nick Barber suffered the loss and made six saves.

The Explorers dominated on offense as they took 18 shots to the Colonials' nine. The two squads were even in corner kicks and fouls. The spirited contest also saw five yellow cards - one for Robert Morris and four for La Salle - along with a Colonial red card.

The Explorers continue their western Pennsylvania swing on Sunday when they head to Pittsburgh for a 1:00 PM contest.
