DOVER – After winning its first match of the Delaware State Tournament on Friday against Norfolk State, the La Salle Volleyball team hoped to replicate its success on Saturday, but a 3-0 (14-25, 13-25, 16-25) loss to Maryland Eastern Shore and a 3-1 loss (14-25, 26-24, 14-25, 20-25) to host Delaware State dropped the Explorers to 1-2 over the weekend.
Against Delaware State, freshman Samantha Tulskie was the only participant to record a double-double, ending with a team-high 16 digs, 10 kills, two assists, a service ace and an assisted block. Senior Rachel Stemper led the team with 13 kills and also totaled six digs, an assisted block and an assist.
Junior Carly Conlon paced the Explorers with 20 assists and sophomore Kourtney Clark followed up with 10 of her own in addition to eight digs.
Three Hornets finished with double-digit kills, led by junior Erica Tajchman with 15, and junior Sarah Wheatcroft led everyone in the match with 42 assists.
Against Maryland Eastern Shore earlier in the day, Stemper led all Explorers with eight kills and tied a match-high with nine digs. Tulskie also added nine digs and Conlon and Clark both contributed 10 assists apiece.
The Explorers (2-10) return home to host Lehigh on Tuesday at 7 PM.
