PHILADELPHIA - The La Salle men's soccer team's two-game win streak came to a halt on Wednesday afternoon as the Explorers dropped a 2-0 decision at Soccer Six rival Drexel. With the loss, the Explorers drop to 2-2-1 while the Dragons improve to 4-1.
The two teams remained scoreless until midway through the second half when Drexel's Malcolm LeBourne struck for a goal set up by Fabio Assumpcao at the 71:44 mark. LeBourne and Assumpcao teamed up once again in the 88th minute for the Dragons' insurance goal and the final 2-0 score.
The Explorers suffered a 22-11 shot disadvantage, but held a 5-3 edge in corner kicks with all five coming in the first half. Mike Pio and Glenroy Chapman both registered shots on goal, but Dragon keeper Tim Washam stopped both.
Kyle Quigley took the loss in goal. He came up with six saves, all in the second half.
The Explorers stay on the road for one more game before returning to McCarthy Stadium. They head to Garden City, NY, on Sunday for a 3:00 PM tilt at Adelphi.
