Box Score

LEWISBURG, PA - La Salle rallied from a 2-0 deficit with two second half goals but dropped a 3-2 overtime decision at Bucknell on Friday afternoon. Sophomore Lindsay Fry and freshman Janel Paukovits provided the second half tallies in a homecoming game for first-year head coach Michelle Marks, who spent two seasons as an assistant with the Bison.

Bucknell (5-2) got on the board in the 19th minute when Christine Weiss scored on a penalty corner. Austin Thomas scored on a breakaway two minutes later to give the Bison a 2-0 lead midway through the first half.

But the Explorers (3-5) fought back, tying the game with two goals in a span of 10 minutes. Paukovits scored in the 48th minute after tipping in a penalty corner off the stick of freshman Rebecca Chylack. Ten minutes later, Fry stole a pass in the crease and found the back of the cage to tie the game.

Freshman Neelam Kumar nearly had her first collegiate goal in the closing minutes but a defensive save by Thomas kept the game scoreless. The Explorers had three penalty corners in the final five minutes but were unable to capitalize.

Bucknell's Morgan Kauffman ended the game with her penalty stroke goal in the 78th minute to give the hosts the win.

The Bison held a 21-16 lead in shots and a 14-12 advantage in penalty corners.

Junior Emma Ruth had seven saves in defeat, while her counterpart, Jessie Atieh, had eight saves.

La Salle remains on the road on Sunday with a trip to Lock Haven.
