 SAINT LOUIS - Kelly Scanlon and Kourtney Clark each notched double-doubles as the Explorers fell 3-0 (13-25, 21-25, 17-25) to Saint Louis on Friday evening.
Scanlon tallied 11 digs and 10 kills on .300 hitting to post her fourth double-double of the season.
Clark added 21 assists and 12 digs.  Earlier in the season Clark notched a triple-double in La Salle’s win over Quinnipiac.
Breanna Mazalewski picked up 13 digs and a service ace, while Lauren Noga and Alex Kennedy each had a pair of block assists.
Reigning Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week Andrea Beaty of Saint Louis led all attackers with 12 kills.  Hannah Kvitle posted a match-high 32 assists.
La Salle was overmatched in the opening set and the Billikens closed out the 25-13 set win on an 8-0 run.
The second set was the Explorers’ strongest.  The Blue and Gold fought back from a 17-10 deficit and got within three points of the Billikens at 23-20 after a kill by Scanlon.  A winner by Jacquelyn Mitrovich made the score 24-21, but Saint Louis would win the set, 25-21, on the next volley.
In the third frame Saint Louis used a pair of 5-0 runs to take the 25-17 victory.
La Salle returns home on Sunday for 2:00 p.m. contest against Fordham.
