PHILADELPHIA - The Explorers fell to Fordham, 3-0 (15-25, 17-25, 18-25), in a Sunday afternoon contest at Tom Gola Arena.

Jacquelyn Mitrovich and Alex Kennedy each posted eight kills for La Salle, while Breanna Mazalewski notched 12 digs and Kourtney Clark tallied 23 assists.

Fordham’s Christi Griffiths led all attackers with ten kills on .533 hitting and Mary Diamantidis had 30 assists.

The Explorers got off to a slow start in the first set and couldn’t climb back from an early deficit. Mitrovich stood out for La Salle, notching five kills during the set on .444 hitting.

In the second set, the Rams used a 9-2 run to distance themselves from the Blue and Gold and make the score 19-10.  La Salle was able to gain three straight points off Fordham errors to get within six, but the Rams prevailed, 25-17. 

The third frame saw La Salle bring the score to 8-9 after a service ace by Mazalewski.  The Explorers couldn’t keep the momentum going, ultimately falling 18-25. 

The Explorers will next face Temple at Tom Gola Arena on Wednesday at noon.  The match will be themed “Kids’ Day” and La Salle will welcome children from several local schools to campus.
