PHILADELPHIA - La Salle graduate Vernon Goodridge was selected in the first round as the fifth overall pick in last night's NBA Developmental League Draft by the Springfield Armor.

Goodridge, who earned his degree from La Salle in May, averaged 6.7 points and 5.9 rebounds in just 21 minutes per game for the Explorers during the 2008-09 season.

He spent time in the preseason camp of the NBA's Golden State Warriors this fall. The Armor open the regular season on November 19 at Erie.
