RALEIGH, NC - La Salle Baseball dropped the second game of the three-game series at NC State Saturday afternoon at Doak Field as the Wolfpack upended the Explorers 18-3.

The Wolfpack (2-0) took a 9-0 lead after three innings, then added six more in the third to make it 15-1 at that point.

Jeff Flax and Jon Gyles, who each had two hits in the season opener, again had a pair of hits in Saturday's contest. Gyles drove in Flax with an RBI single in the third.

Eric Kammler and Chris Umstead scored in the ninth as Dan Klem hit a two-out two-RBI double to provide the Explorers their final two runs.

A bright spot on the mound for the La Salle was senior Christian Schulz. He threw two innings of scoreless baseball, allowed just one hit and struck out three batters.

La Salle (0-2) will conclude its three-game set with the Wolfpack on Sunday, with first pitch at 1 PM.
