It was the play of Green that got the Blue and Gold back into the game after trailing 42-33 just two minutes into the second half. He helped the Explorers take a 55-49 lead midway through the half. The Colonials scored the next six points and would improve to 15-11 (5-8 A-10).
Junior Steve Weingarten added 10 points for La Salle. The Explorers committed only 13 turnovers but were plagued by 54.5% foul shooting.
For George Washington, Lasan Kromah had 22 points and Dwayne Smith added 21 off the bench.
The Colonials had a 44-42 advantage on the boards and shot 70% from the foul line.
