Box Score

PHILADELPHIA - The 2010 softball season came to a close on Saturday, as the Explorers dropped an 8-0 game to St. Bonaventure at West Campus Field.

The game opened as a pitcher's duel as there was only one hit between the two teams through three and a half innings. The Explorers threatened in the the first inning as they loaded the bases. Gina Massaro drew a lead-off walk and Breanna DiTommaso was hit by a pitch to put runners at first and second. The pair manufactured a double steal on Mary Pat Conville's at-bat to put runners at second and third with one out. Angelina Bisbiglia followed up by hitting the ball to Bonnie third baseman Kara Morenus, who attempted to get Massaro out in a rundown, but Massaro got back to third safely. Unfortunately, the Blue & Gold could not capitalize.

The Bonnies got all the runs they needed in the fourth inning as they scored eight on seven runs.

Erica Vile blasted a double in the bottom of the fourth to try to start a rally before the Bonnie defense came through for the eventual 8-0 final.

The team's five seniors were honored in a pre-game ceremony, as the softball program says goodbye to Bisbiglia, Conville, Massaro, Laura Beth McCreesh and Vile.
