FARMVILLE, VA - Longwood scored six unanswered goals to defeat La Salle, 6-1, on Saturday afternoon. Sophomore Neelam Kumar scored for the third straight contest for the Explorers.

Kumar scored in the seventh minute to break a scoreless tie but from that point on it was all Longwood. The Lancers scored two in the first half and added four in the second half for the victory. Stacey De Grandhomme had a hat trick for the hosts.

Senior Emma Ruth made six saves for La Salle, while Kaye Goulding and Emily Lewis combined for one stop.

Longwood (2-5) out-shot La Salle, 19-5, and held a 13-5 advantage in corners.

The Explorers (2-5) will return home after a six-game road trip for a three-game homestand beginning on Saturday, September 25 versus Lehigh.
