EASTON, Pa. - Kourtney Clark posted a triple-double as the Explorers closed out play at the Lafayette Invitational with a 3-2 win over Quinnipiac (20-25, 25-17, 17-25, 25-18, 15-12).
After dropping the first and third sets, La Salle finished strong, taking the last two sets to seal the match.
"We proved we were ready to play five sets," head coach Stever said. "We hadn't had our backs to the wall like that all year and we showed we could hold our own."
Clark ended the night with 44 assists, 11 kills and 10 digs, as well as four service aces.
"She played exceptional, as did the rest of the team, in that last match," Stever said. "For a setter to get more than ten kills is outstanding."
The Explorers had a well-balance attack, with Samantha Tulskie adding 21 kills and 13 kills for a double-double, Lauren Noga notching 10 kills and Danielle DiMarco and Jacquelyn Mitrovich each contributing nine kills.
Defensively, Mitrovich compiled six solo blocks and five block assists and Breanna Mazalewski and Carly Conlon had 28 and 17 digs, respectively.
For the Bobcats, Kelby Carey and Stephanie Biediger added double-doubles of their own and Kayla Lawler notched 39 assists.
Earlier in the day, La Salle fell 3-0 (20-25, 22-25, 15-25) to Delaware State. The Explorers struggled on attack, hitting at a negative percentage in the third set.
"We were disappointed," Stever said. "We were outplayed in that match."
La Salle now sits at 4-11 on the season. The Explorers will travel to Baltimore to face Coppin State on Tuesday evening.
