NEWARK, DE - Looking to extend its unbeaten streak to five games, La Salle Women's Soccer outshot the Drexel Dragons, 12-9, but could not get the ball in the net and fell to Drexel, 2-0, in the Blue Hen Classic on Sunday afternoon.
The Explorers, who had played into overtime in each of their last three contests which tied a school record, battled the Dragons to a scoreless first half.
Drexel (4-4-0) broke the scoreless tie in the 52nd minute as Jenna Lindsay scored her second of the year with an assisted from Jess Lowinger. Lindsay would help on Alex Vazquez's insurance goal in the 81st minute to put the Dragons up 2-0.
Victoria Troccoli (three saves) and Nicole Sinclair (two saves) combined on the shutout, while Sinclair earned the win.
La Salle (5-3-1) will be back to action next weekend with another pair of road games. They are at Lehigh on Friday, with a 7 PM start, then are at Saint Joseph's (a non-conference match) on Sunday at 1 PM.
After the second game of the Blue Hen Classic (Delaware vs. George Washington), the All-Tournament Team was released with Renee Washington, Jess Hopton, and Courtney Niemiec earning spots.
