The Explorers played Fordham tough, but fell in four sets (22-25, 25-18, 25-21, 25-15) during their first Atlantic 10 competition of the season.
In the opening set, La Salle played from behind and brought the score to within one at 18-19 after a service ace by Breanna Mazalewski. The Rams made two errors at set point before closing the set, 25-22.
The Explorers took an early 4-3 lead in the second set and wouldn't relinquish it, en route to a 25-18 victory. La Salle hit .310 and held the Rams to an .000 attack percentage.
In the third frame, the Explorers used a 7-0 run, which included two kills by Kelly Scanlon and one each by Jacquelyn Mitrovich and Danielle DiMarco, to gain a 9-5 advantage.
The Rams took a timeout and then used a 7-1 run of their own to take the lead back at 12-10. Fordham pulled away to win 25-21.
In the fourth set, Fordham dominated the Explorers, hitting at a .300 clip.
Fordham's Brittany Daulton notched a match-high 15 kills. Samantha Tulskie tallied 11 kills and 10 digs for the Explorers. DiMarco added 16 digs, while Kourtney Clark had 30 assists.
La Salle remains in New England to face Rhode Island on Saturday at 4:00 pm.
