PHILADELPHIA - Junior Lindsay Fry took a pass from sophomore Rebecca Chylack three minutes into overtime and deposited a shot in the right corner of the cage to give La Salle a 1-0 victory over St. Francis (PA) on Sunday at DeVincent Field. For Fry, it was her second overtime game-winner in the past two weeks as the co-captain also provided the deciding goal in a 2-1 win at Robert Morris on Sept. 11.

"This 2-0 weekend gives us a confidence boost," Fry said. "We need to come out and play hard next weekend and every game after that."

The evenly played game went into overtime where the 7-on-7 lineup really opened play up. SFU had a chance early in the extra frame but could not get a shot on goal. La Salle responded on the fast break opportunity and received a penalty corner. The play didn't go exactly as planned but Chylack and Fry improvised and found the back of the cage.

Chylack's assist capped an impressive weekend for the sophomore. She scored two goals and had one assist in Saturday's 3-2 victory over Lehigh.

"In 7-on-7 it's very important to play possession-ball," Fry said. "It's very important to connect every pass and try to catch the other team off guard."

Senior Emma Ruth played a strong game in goal, stopping three shots. With the shutout, Ruth moves into second place on the La Salle career shutout list with eighth. Her counterpart Katelyn Vitali had four saves for the Red Flash (2-8).

The Explorers held a 11-10 edge in shots and a 9-5 lead in corners and improved to 4-0 all-time versus SFU.

La Salle (4-5) will remain at home to host Bryant on Saturday at noon.
