PHILADELPHIA - The volleyball team fell to cross-town opponent Temple, 3-0 (21-25, 12-25, 18-25) during a daytime match on the Temple campus.
Kelly Scanlon led La Salle with nine kills, while Lauren Noga and Jacquelyn Mitrovich each had seven kills. Kourtney Clark notched a team-high 22 assists, eight digs and three service aces.
Jessica Antosz paced the Owls with 10 kills and .562 hitting.
The first set, marked by ten ties, was tightly contested. The Owls used a 6-0 run to push the score to 19-12 in their favor before Mitrovich ended the rally with a kill for the Explorers.
La Salle got back within two at 23-21, but could not overtake Temple.
After the score was knotted at 3-3 in the second set, La Salle fell behind, 5-12, after a 9-2 Temple run. Antosz added three of her five service aces on the match in that set to give the Owls a comfortable 25-12 win.
La Salle had to play from behind in the third set as well, falling 18-25.
The Explorers will have a week off before their next match at St. Peter's College on October 6.
