TOWSON, MD - Seniors Gabrielle Nolt and Beth Carey each scored their second goal of the season but it was the only offense that La Salle could muster in a 4-2 loss at Towson on Wednesday night. Senior Emma Ruth made a season-best 10 saves in the loss.
Nolt got the visitors off to a good start by scoring in the 11th minute. Just two minutes later, the Tigers evened the score on a tally by Kasie Nurko.
The score remained knotted at 1-1 until the 45th minute when Towson (2-2) scored the first of three straight goals to make it 4-1. Kristie Blumer had two of the goals for the hosts.
Carey scored with just three seconds remaining in the contest on a corner. Sophomores Neelam Kumar and Rebecca Chylack earned the assists.
Towson outshot La Salle, 21-8, and held a 14-6 lead in corners.
The Explorers (0-3) will travel to Robert Morris this weekend for a pair of games. La Salle will take on RMU on Saturday at 11 AM and Appalachian State on Sunday at noon.
