PHILADELPHIA - Holy Redeemer Health System and Orthopaedic Surgery & Rehabilitation Associates have entered into an agreement with La Salle University to provide orthopaedic sports medicine to the University's 500 student athletes participating in varsity, intramural, and club sports effective October 17, 2011. La Salle competes at the Division I level in the Atlantic 10 Conference. Its athletes compete in 22 intercollegiate sports as well as in many club and intramural sports.

“Holy Redeemer is pleased to partner with an outstanding university to ensure that all student athletes have ready access to necessary orthopedic care,” said Michael B. Laign, President and CEO of Holy Redeemer Health System in Huntingdon Valley, PA. Holy Redeemer's orthopedic department has long been recognized for its quality services, most recently by Independence Blue Cross, which granted Blue Distinction status for hip and knee replacement in 2011.

La Salle University's Director of Athletics, Dr. Thomas Brennan, said “We are delighted to establish this partnership with Holy Redeemer, a Catholic Health System with a reputation for excellence. I am sure that our student-athletes and coaches will be well served.”

Board-certified, fellowship-trained, Orthopaedic Sports Medicine Surgeon Brian T. Brislin, MD of Orthopaedic Surgery & Rehabilitation Associates will be the primary physician working with La Salle's athletes. “I am happy to become a member of the La Salle Sports Medicine team and look forward to keeping all the athletes healthy and victorious,” said Dr. Brislin.

Dr. Brislin received his medical degree from Jefferson Medical College, did his internship and residency in orthopaedic surgery at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, and completed a fellowship in Sports Medicine and Arthroscopy at Mississippi Sports Medicine and Orthopaedic Center in Jackson, Mississippi. He is active in the orthopaedic and sports medicine professional communities, and is on the medical staff of Holy Redeemer Hospital.
