Tom Gola Arena Debuts New Video Boards During Army Game

PHILADELPHIA – Tom Gola Arena, home to the La Salle men's and women's basketball teams, now boasts two state-of-the-art light emitting diode (LED) video displays provided by Daktronics Inc. of Brookings, S.D. The new video displays were installed prior to Saturday's men's basketball game versus Army on December 10

A generous gift from long-time La Salle supporter John Glaser '62 provided the funding for the video boards.

"We are excited to equip Gola Arena with state-of-the-art video boards," Dr. Tom Brennan, director of athletics, said. "A special thanks goes to John Glaser for his generous gift."

"I think it is tremendous for the fans to get them excited," head coach Dr. John Giannini said. "The reason all the pro teams have them is because they add a great deal to the gameday experience. Our games are going to be a lot more fun because of them."

Located in each corner of the court, the 7 feet, nine inches high by 13 feet, nine inches wide displays provide superb image clarity and wide-angle visibility for excellent viewing throughout the arena. Featuring the latest industry-leading LED technology, the video board can operate as an independent display showing single large images or be divided in multiple zones (windows) to show a wide variety of statistics, information graphics, animations, sponsor information and live and recorded video.

La Salle fans are also informed of game in progress information by a reliable Daktronics custom scoreboard complete with low power, high-brightness LED digits and programmable team name displays.

Also included in the upgrade project are Daktronics video image processing technologies and the new Show Control system. The company's LED video processing system is touted as the best in the industry, processing and scaling live and recorded video signal to vivid digital imagery on large LED displays. The Show Control system is one of the latest developments from Daktronics, providing a power combination of control software, data integration, and playback hardware.
