PHILADELPHIA - La Salle freshman Jerrell Wright has been named the Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week, the league office announced today. The Philadelphia native (Dobbins Tech) averaged 16.0 points and 8.5 rebounds in a 1-1 week for the Explorers. He was also named the GoExplorers.com Student-Athlete of the Week.

Wright opened the week with an 11-point, eight-rebound performance against Delaware, registering two blocks. He followed that with a career-high 21 points to lead La Salle to a win over Central Connecticut State, pulling down nine rebounds in the process. 

The Philadelphia native also dished out three assists versus CCSU. He shot 14-of-22 (.636) during the week.

Fordham's Chris Gaston and Richmond junior guard Darien Brothers were named the A-10 Co-Players of the Week.

La Salle (8-4) hosts Boston University on Thursday at 7 PM.
