SPARTANBURG, S.C.- La Salle Softball concluded tournament play at USC Upstate on Sunday with a 2-0 loss to the hosting USC Upstate Spartans. Following the game, freshman Jackie McBride was named to the All-Tournament team.
"It was a great first weekend for Jackie [McBride] to get under her belt," Head Coach Brianne Brown said. "I'm sure there will be plenty more awards for her to come"
McBride finished her first collegiate weekend batting .400, going 4-for-10 with four RBIs, a walk and a run scored on her three-run home run against Lafayette on Saturday. McBride entered Sunday's game against the Spartans with a three-game hitting streak, only for it to be halted today by USC Upstate's Morgan Childers.
Childers tossed a one-walk, no-run, no-hit ballgame with 17 strikeouts.
The Explorers limited the 15-0 Spartans to just two runs behind senior DJ Guinn's pitching performance. Guinn allowed two runs on five hits through six innings of work.
La Salle (1-3) will have a week off before heading to Kissimmee, FL from March 7-9 for the Rebel Spring Games.
