Box Score
SAINT LOUIS, MO- Saturday afternoon's match against Saint Louis was not dominated by pitching like Friday night's contest. The Bilikens hit three straight doubles in the fourth inning, helping them put up a four-run inning in the third frame to pace themselves to a 6-1 victory over the La Salle Explorers.
Saint Louis' Alyson Brand smacked a double into left field off of senior DJ Guinn to bring in two runs for the Billikens before Rachel Faletto followed the act with a double of her own in left field that tacked on another run.
Tori Holland rounded out the inning when she put a ball in play for her own two-base hit, which stretched the Billiken lead to a four-run margin.
With two runners aboard in the fifth inning, senior Kristen Paoletti delivered for the Explorers when she singled through the right side. Junior Heather Brabazon was waved around from second base to score the Explorers' only run of the afternoon to cut the lead to a 4-1 deficit.
Brabazon led the Explorers by going 2-for-3 on the afternoon with a run scored, a walk, a single and a double.
The Explorers looked to avoid further damage in the third inning when Paoletti was brought in to pitch in relief of Guinn. Paoletti pitched the final 3.1 innings in which she struck out two of the 20 batters that she faced.
The two runs scored in the fifth inning that helped Saint Louis go up 6-1 were not charged to Paoletti, as La Salle had two fielding mishaps in the outfield.
La Salle drops to 2-15 on the season and is now 0-2 in Atlantic 10 Conference play.
The Explorers have concluded their 17-game road agenda and now return to campus to host their first game of the season when they take on Saint Peters at West Field on Tuesday for a doubleheader beginning at 3 p.m.
