DURHAM, NC – Kevin Fuqua pitched seven strong innings but the bats were silent as Duke shutout La Salle 4-0 on Friday night at Durham Athletic Park.

Fuqua (1-2) continued his strong start to the 2011 season but was tagged with his second loss after allowing seven hits and three runs (two earned) with two walks and six strikeouts in his third start of the season.

The offense for La Salle could only muster five hits, two coming from the bat of Tony Negrin. Jeff Flax, Joe Bennie and Adam Kammler also added hits in the contest.

The Explorers (4-3) will send LHP Eric Van Wyk and RHP Cody Weiss to the hill tomorrow in a doubleheader as projected rain heading into the North Carolina area has forced the series to be concluded by Saturday night.

The two teams were originally scheduled to play on Sunday but that game has been moved to Saturday due to the impending weather.

The game has also been moved from the Durham Athletic Park to Duke’s campus at Jack Coombs Field.
