Game 1 Box Score

Game 2 Box Score

BRONX, NY-The Fordham Rams worked quickly against the Explorers on Sunday at Murphy Field, taking both decisions in five innings by counts of 8-0 and 10-1.

Freshman Megan Hodgson hit her first home run since putting on the Blue and Gold when she took a pitch from Fordham's Chelsea Plimption's out of the park.

Hodgson's home run is all the offense the Explorers would gather all day between the two games.

Senior Ali Shepherd extended her seven-game hitting streak to eight games in game one of the doubleheader in the fourth inning when she singled into right center field.

Batting from the leadoff spot in game two, Shepherd was unable to extend the streak to a ninth game as she went 0-for-3.

Sophomore Liz Reed's hitting streak also came to an end in game one, but after getting a base hit in the second game, Reed has hit safely in seven of her last eight games.

Fordham scored big in the second inning of both ballgames, as they put up six runs in the second frame of game one before scoring seven runs in the second inning of the second game.

Pitching by the Rams on Sunday was impressive. Jen Mineau had the start for Fordham in the first game. Mineau struck out 13 of 16 batters and was nearly unhittable as La Salle was only able to generate one hit off the junior pitcher. In game two, Plimpton held the Explorers to one run on two hits, while striking out six.

The Explorers (2-24, 0-8) return home for an extended stay, as they will host six straight games on the dirt of West Campus Field. On Tuesday, La Salle will play the first of three straight games against a city rival school when the Drexel Dragons arrive for a doubleheader beginning at 3 PM.

La Salle's will play 12 of its next 14 games on its home field when it begins the upcoming homestand on Tuesday.
