Ramon Galloway has been named the Atlantic 10 Co-Player of the Week and the Philadelphia Big 5 Player of the Week, the league offices announced today. Galloway averaged 21.5 ppg. and 7.0 apg. in a 2-0 week for the Explorers, who are in a three-way tie for first place in the A-10.
Galloway started his week with a career-high 28-point outburst in a 78-63 victory over George Washington on Wednesday. The junior shot 11-for-12 from the field and 6-for-7 from three-point range in the victory, setting career-highs in field goals and three-point field goals.
On Saturday in a 71-68 win at Duquesne, Galloway scored 13 of his 15 points in the second half, and added a career-high 10 assists. His three-point play with 1:30 remaining gave the Explorers a lead they would not relinquish.
In two games, Galloway shot 17-for-24 (70.8%) from the field and 8-for-11 (72.7%) from three-point range. He also averaged 4.5 rpg.
In the latest NCAA statistical rankings released today, Galloway is fifth in the nation in three-point percentage (48.1%). The Explorers rank ninth as a team (40.6%).
Galloway shares the Atlantic 10 award with UMass forward Raphiael Putney. He was also named the Philahoops.com Player of the Week and the GoExplorers.com Student-Athlete of the Week.
The Explorers (16-6, 5-2 A-10) host Charlotte on Wednesday at 7 PM before visiting the Palestra to play St. Joe's on Saturday at noon.
