Women's Swimming & Diving Picks Up Four Medals On Day Three Of A-10 Champs; Sits In Third

BUFFALO, N.Y. – Junior Elizabeth Jordan picked up gold in the 100-breast, setting a school record, while junior Jessica Simunek took silver in the same event, as well as bronze in the 100-fly, as La Salle wrapped up the third day of the 2012 Atlantic 10 Swimming & Diving Championships.

The Explorers also earned a bronze medal in the 400-medley relay. Freshman Amina Wilson, Simunek, sophomore Lianne McCluskey and sophomore Katie Snee propelled La Salle to the podium with a come-from-behind finish in 3:48.94.

After three days of competition, La Salle sits in third place.

Jordan swam a 1:03.02 in the 100-breast to win the event and break the school record of 1:03.10 set by Shannon Duval in 2010.

Jessica Simunek had a big night for the Explorers.  She finished in second right behind Jordan in the 100-breast (1:03.42). 

Earlier in the night, Simunek earned a bronze in the 100-fly, swimming the exact same time as her record-breaking performance in the morning (55.93).

Also in the 100-breast, senior Marci Wixted clocked a 1:06.33, good for sixth, while junior Olivia Armater was 13th overall (1:07.23).

In the consolation final of the 100-fly, McCluskey clocked a 56.91 for 13th overall.

Freshman Colleen Larkin won the consolation final of the 400 IM, clocking in at 4:28.44 to take ninth overall.  Classmate Lisa Woodman finished 15th overall in 4:36.67.

Freshmen Wilson (57.82) and Chelsey Curran (58.18) clocked in 11th and 14th overall, respectively in the 100-back.
The championship meet will conclude tomorrow, with event preliminaries beginning at 10:30 a.m.
