BUFFALO, N.Y. – Junior
Jessica Simunek broke her own school record in the 100-fly and went on qualify first in the 100-breast as the Explorers completed Friday morning preliminaries at the 2012 Atlantic 10 Swimming & Diving Championships.
In the 100-fly, Simunek's first event of the day, she swam a 55.93, shaving nearly a second off of her school record of 56.77 set at the 2011 A-10 Champs. She qualified third in the event for tonight's finals.
Also swimming in the 100-fly this evening is sophomore Lianne McClusky, who dropped a second and a half off her best 100-fly time and just missed qualifying for the finals this evening. She will swim in the consolation finals.
The Explorers will be well represented in the 100-breast this evening. Simunek posted a 1:03.72, the fastest time on the day. Junior
Elizabeth Jordan was right behind here at 1:04.05, while senior
Marci Wixted will also swim in the finals after a 1:06.61 preliminary. Junior
Olivia Armater qualified ninth at 1:06.68, to make the B final cut.
Freshmen
Colleen Larkin (4:33.58) and
Lisa Woodman (4:35.66) both qualified to swim in the 400 IM consolation final tonight.
A pair of freshmen will also represent La Salle in the 100-back consolation finals.
Amina Wilson clocked in at 57.87 in the preliminaries, while
Chelsey Curran touched at 58.09.
